An index of caribou sounds and soundscapes
This library consists of sounds made by caribou and captive reindeer as part of a study from the Gurarie Wildlife Ecology lab. We use acoustic recorders on the land and on the animals to collect these sounds, along with soundscapes from the surrounding environment. On-animal recordings can provide unprecedented details about a caribou——the challenges and triumphs that thread the fabric of their daily lives, and the details of their world that color that fabric. Recordings from the land provide information of their habitat at large.
The library sounds can be heard here or on xeno-canto.com, where they are publicly available for download.
